Subconsciously, we've denied other tribes of this great nation a voice and a chance to participate in governance . As outrageous as it may sound, it is evidently true in the way the system is structured that left most tribes with no choice but to see reasons to speak either of the major language to feel included even though is a trance-forminable lie or be left in the dark to follow whatever the majority decides.
Let's take a trip down the tribes of this nation and you will be surprised that you've not heard of a some, if not most of them.
There are more than 300 Nigerian tribes and among the largest of them includes ; Hausa - Fulani , Igbo , Yoruba , Ijaw , Kanuri , Annang , Tiv , Ibibio , Etsako , and Efik . The other tribes comprises of a smaller number of the nation's population - evidently I can say that 70% of the population of the country is made up of the Hausa , Igbo , and Yoruba .
The Hausa tribe is the largest in Nigeria making up about 28-29% of Nigeria 's population . They live in the northern part of Nigeria which includes: Kano, Kaduna , Biram , Jos , Lafia , Katsina , Abuja , Sokoto , Bauchi , Kebbi , Damaturu , Dutse , Gombe , Suleja , Gusau , Jalingo , Jebba , Maiduguri , Makurdi , Yola , and Zaria and also southern parts of Niger and West end of Chad Republic .
Igbo is one of the major tribes in Nigeria , and they occupy most of the south eastern part of the country which includes : Enugu , Onitsha , Owerri , Asaba , Awka , Abakiliki , Abia , Orlu etc. The percentage of this tribe is uncertain as they can be found all over the country and outside the country.
The Yoruba tribe is another major tribe that constitutes almost 21% of Nigeria's population. They inhabit the southwestern part of the country and also lives in other countries in West Africa like Benin , Ghana , Togo etc.
Some other tribes of Nigeria includes: Abayon (Cross River) , Abua (Rivers) , Achipa (Kebbi ) , Adim (Cross River ) , Adun (Cross River ) , Affade (Yobe) , Afizere (Plateau) , Afo (Plateau) , Akweya - Yach (Benue) , Anang (Awka Ibom) , Awori (Lagos, Ogun) , Ayu (Kaduna) , Babur (Born, Taraba , Yobe) , Barke (Bauchi) , Baya (Adamawa) , Bette (Cross River) and many more hundreds of tribes.
As few of us believe in a slight possibility of change in the country's economy and corruption it is very important that we don't make decisions based on just few tribes and unjustly go to war over things that can be settled quietly if one party can only look the other way and forgive what was done to them in the past or the kind of information that have been passed on to them.
Is Nigeria because together we are stronger and better, to bring that development we want.
Remember the next time you want to blame the government that you are also the government. Take the responsibility of using your voter's card well and don't abuse it by selling its power for any amount.
Be ready to demand your right and be honest always .
